Review ASUS TUF Gaming FX505 – Low Budget Gaming Laptop
Review ASUS TUF Gaming FX505 – Low Budget Gaming Laptop
The ASUS TUF Gaming FX505DT comes with specifications that are quite different from before. The most significant difference is the runway kitchen that has been "upgraded" which already uses Ryzen 7 and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650. So, what are the capabilities? In this article, we will review more in the laptop, especially regarding its ability to play the latest games. Let's look at the archive!
There are no significant changes in the design section.
Because it is still in the same TUF Gaming series, this
laptop has no difference that is too significant with the Intel version that we
had previously reviewed. The TUF Gaming FX505 comes with a slimmer body than
the previous TUF Gaming series. Not surprisingly, because now a gaming laptop
with a sleek body is becoming the belle of gamers. Although thinner than the
last series, TUF Gaming FX505 still looks a bit thick.

Even so, you don't need to worry, the article, ASUS has
immersed NanoEdge Display technology in almost all its laptop product lines,
including the TUF Gaming series. The gaming laptop has a 15.6-inch screen with
thin bezel thanks to NanoEdge Display technology. Also, there is also a design
that represents the letter X in the closing part of the screen. All of them are
presented with finishing using the brushed or sand-blasted method and appear
with a choice of Gunmetal Gray or Black colours.
For business connectivity, the TUF Gaming FX505 doesn't have
many ports. There are only 3x USB Type-A, two of which are USB 3.0. There is
also LAN RJ45, audio jack and HDMI. Even so, ASUS still takes Bluetooth 5.0 as
an extra connectivity option. Wi-Fi modules used in the TUF Gaming FX505 also
use a 2x2 MIMO configuration so that it has a 30 per cent more full range than
the 1x1 configuration used on other laptops.

On the keyboard, the TUF Gaming FX505 uses a full-size
chiclet keyboard with a press distance of 1.8mm which ensures user comfort in
playing. The backlit it has can be switched to the FX505 version, but
unfortunately, it only has one zone. One of the highlights is the HyperStrike
Technology feature where the TUF Gaming FX705 keyboard comes with higher
accuracy both when typing and playing games. This is because the distance
between the keys and keyboard layout has been optimized so that users will be
able to recognize the button's position naturally.
Significant upgrade
Significant upgrades Yep, the difference between the TUF
Gaming FX505 is the most prominent part of the kitchen. The TUF Gaming FX505DT
is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 3750H processor that has 4 cores and also 8
threads and runs at a speed of 2.3GHz to a maximum of 4GHz by default.
Meanwhile, in the RAM section, this review uses 8GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM one piece
that can be added up to 16GB.
Well, in the most important part to play the latest games,
the FX505DT TUF Gaming has two graphics cards, the Radeon RX Vega 10, and
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 4GB. This gaming laptop is very powerful for playing
various contemporary games. To save games and other files, TUF Gaming FX505DT
is only equipped with a 1TB capacity hard drive, without SSD. You can upgrade
the SSD, and it is strongly recommended that you upgrade immediately to get
maximum performance.
For you gamers who want to save a lot at the same time as
well as various collections of music and movies and need sound accuracy when
playing games, TUF Gaming FX505 uses DTS Audio technology. The goal? The voice
is one of the most vital factors. Good sound reproduction will make players
more able to feel the atmosphere in the game. Conversely, playing experience
can be bad if the sound produced is not good, such as being unable to reproduce
the sound of the direction of the shot properly.
The various sophisticated innards are also supported by
revolutionary cooling technology called Hypercool Technology. Through a feature
called Anti-Dust Cooling, it can improve cooling performance by removing dust
and other disruptive particles so that it doesn't get involved in the cooling
path of this laptop. Anti-Dust Cooling utilises a single tunnel that can remove
dirt and other particles outside the laptop. Through this technology, TUF
Gaming FX505 will not accumulate dust in the cooling system so that the
laptop's performance will be maintained.
TUF Gaming FX505 has two fans with a Trapezoid-Cut heatsink
design. For those of you who like to play for a long time, ASUS also provides
the Fan Overboost option on TUF Gaming FX505. Through this mode, the fan will
run at maximum speed, ensuring that the components inside will remain cool and
not experience everyday gaming.
ASUS also presents exclusive NanoEdge Display technology on
this gaming laptop. This technology often appears on various ASUS premium
laptops, one of which is ZenBook. Through NanoEdge Display, the TUF Gaming
FX505 can have a screen that comes with a very thin bezel, which is only 6.5mm.
The TUF Gaming FX705 also comes with IPS-level panel screens
with RGB color gamut up to 100%. Coupled with the support of wide viewing
angles, the TUF Gaming FX505 screen can deliver visual quality with consistent
contrast and color sharpness. This certainly will make the gaming experience
more immersive, especially in games that do display a broad and detailed
environment. Unfortunately, for the TUF Gaming FX505DT version, it still uses a
60Hz screen, not yet 120Hz.
Performance
To find out the extent of the ability of a processor, of
course, first of all, is to do a synthetic benchmark as an "overview"
of the extent of the gaming laptop's capabilities. In synthetic benchmark
testing, we used four software such as 3DMark Firestrike, Cinebench R15, and
also PC Mark 10. The following results
Look at the specifications that are different from the
previous variants and look to have a significant upgrade, especially in the
graphics card section that they have. No half-hearted, we tested it with a
variety of contemporary games, ranging from lightweight esports games to even
massive AAA games. The following results:
For play various esports games, it looks like TUF Gaming
FX505DT doesn't have any difficulties, right? Trying to play DOTA 2 and CS: GO,
the gaming laptop can still run it with an average framerate above 90 FPS with
maximum settings. Meanwhile, to play PUBG, it can even get an average framerate
of 66 FPS with ultra settings.
Well, when trying to play AAA games, the TUF Gaming FX505DT
has begun to feel heavy to run it. Call it Monster Hunter World and also The
Witcher 3, which is played with high settings can only get an average framerate
below 60 FPS; only Devil May Cry V has excellent performance.
Not surprisingly, if the gaming laptop is quite tricky when
playing AAA games because the embedded RAM is only 8GB single-channel. If you
have used 16GB dual-channel, the performance that is produced will certainly be
far more maximal.
Conclusion
Over the past few years, the TUF Gaming variant has always
been the mainstay of ASUS to offer its range of gaming laptops to more circles.
However, prices that are trimmed and cheaper than ROG do not necessarily reduce
the quality they offer.

TUF Gaming FX505DT is clear proof that ASUS can provide a
gaming laptop at a price that is quite affordable but still has specifications
and features that are quite capable. AMD Ryzen 7 3750H and NVIDIA GeForce GTX
1650 4GB is already enough to play contemporary games, whether it's just
esports games or AAA games.
Unfortunately, there are some disadvantages to this gaming
laptop. TUF Gaming FX505DT still doesn't use an SSD, and the default RAM it has
is only 8GB single-channel. You can fix these shortcomings by immediately
upgrading the SSD and RAM with the available empty slots. After that? The
performance of this gaming laptop will feel very maximum.
